There is so much to learn in this blog from an herbal wellness consultant that I don’t even know where to start. Except, well, that I’ll start with her article on Sambu Guard, an elderflower and elderberry syrup, and its effect on stubborn sinus issues. I’m thinking this must be a different Sambu Guard than the one I recently bought, though, as mine has no elderflower, but a blend of elderberry, echinacaea and vitamin C instead. As an allergy sufferer myself, I’d be very, very interested to find an elderflower blend to replace the drugstore meds.
Well now, wait… looking at the ingredients I do see it has “wild elderberry fruit and flower concentrate”… maybe this is the same stuff after all? Here’s mine for comparison’s sake:

I have recently been introduced to our friend the elderberry as a relief from sinus, cold, and flu symptoms, when my mother read an article about it in the AARP magazine. I just started taking the elderberry syrup and began blogging about it 3 days ago. I am anxious to enjoy the health benefits of the elderberry, as I have forever been plauged by sinus infections and head colds and such. I have enjoyed learning more about the elderberry on your site, and found it quite informative. I will continue to track the progress of my elderberry experiment on stuffifeellikewritingabout.blogspot.com.

Dear Terri,
Elderberry is a very powerful herb for viral infections and boosting immune health. However, Elder flower is the hottest ticket in town for sinus discomforts of all shapes and sizes. There is also a concentrated form of Elderberry by Sambu. This is different from the type pictured above.
