paleoplanet: unripe elderberries edible?

January 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments

PaleoPlanet has an interesting discussion board thread with good thoughts on eating ripe/unripe elderberry flowers and berries. Particularly of interest is the method of floating berries in water to distinguish which are ripe and which are not.

We dried elderberries to add to our wine that we make. Can anyone out there tell us a way to clean these things after they have been in the food dryer…Or should they be cleaned before placing in the food dryer and how best to do that.
